“I’m thrilled to join Turning Point and look forward to building on its incredible impact in the community,” says Michael.
Turning Point is pleased to announce we will be welcoming Michael Volker as our new Executive Director in January 2026. Michael spent the first 20 years of his career in the private sector, holding senior leadership roles with retailers and manufacturers. Seeking a healthier work–life balance and a more meaningful path, he transitioned to the non-profit sector in 2013. Over the past 12 years, he has developed strong expertise in non-profit management, serving most recently as Executive Director of the 411 Seniors Centre Society.
During his time at 411, Michael led a wide range of successful operational and strategic initiatives. He has deep experience in financial management and has worked closely with finance teams to design and implement effective organizational and fiscal strategies. He is also highly skilled in project management, particularly in facility management and program development. Michael is especially proud of his work in strengthening and diversifying revenue streams, improving operational efficiencies, and navigating the challenges of non-profit fundraising. He also contributes to the broader community as a board member and treasurer for the British Columbia Community Response Network.
On a personal note, Michael is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and a long-time Vancouver resident. He lives in Southeast Vancouver with his lifelong partner. His interests include travel, racquet sports, stream keeping, swimming, and cycling throughout the city.
